Haritha Kanda is in central province. Its a rocky mountain between Agarapathana and Bopaththalawa plains.its standing tall at about 1800m. Surrounding here is much similar to the Horton plains area since most of here is covered by montage grassland. Its a best hiking I ever had coz that was an amazing footslog for nature lovers.

Bopaththalawa Peak, also called Haritha Kanda or Green Mountain, which is around 1940m (6,365 ft) in height, is located at one end of the farm diving it from Bogawanthalawa end. You can see almost all the high mountains in Sri Lanka such as Piduruthalagala, Kikilimana, One Tree Hill, Haggala, Conical Hill, Thotupola, Agra Bopath, Kirigalpoththa, Sri Pada and many others which are in the top 15 list. Like always, I have a kind request for those who want to travel to these places.
How we did it …
we reached to hatton at around 3pm and due to bad road conditions it took more time to reach bogawanthalawa. From bogawanthalawa we bought food for dinner and next day breakfast. Plan was to cook noodles with chicken curry for dinner and bread for nextday breakfast. we managed to get directions to bopaththalawa from locals. If you ask some one for directions, be sure to mention “bopath thalawa”. villagers seems not familiar with “Haritha kanda”.we passed the town and took a left towards bogawana estate.after crossing a bridge one can see bogawana tea factory.after driving along the road we arrived at a point where road intersects to estate managers bungalow.from this point on we had to walk.we could parked the car at the small junction.
After climbing about 900m they turned towards the forest and we walked along the trail. Since NLDB farm is in bopatthalawa,we met many people who were returning home from work. After Hiking another 400m, we reached to a plain where we can see “Haritha kanda”.
